ok, naval ensign seems to be the right word. searched for a translation of 'Kriegsstandarte' (flag which only is used at war - can't even describe it very well...)

baised on everything that has been said so far you all must be huge lacrosse fans. cause it is a mix of all of them but better.
Jmac0585 - March 4, 2010, 9:18 am, #161672
Wow. I need to calm down. Soccer wishes it was the amsomeness that hockey is.
Jmac0585 - March 4, 2010, 9:17 am, #161671
Soccer, all you need is a cheap, $3 ball, and 21 other A-holes that can't catch, throw, hit, tackle, shoot, or pass AND weren't fast enough for track. Even roller hockey gear is much more expensive.
Jmac0585 - March 4, 2010, 9:15 am, #161670
I do agree whole-heartedly with CANADA, soccer is an inferior sport. The reason Hockey isn't as popular in America as soccer is two fold, The expense of the gear needed to play, and the necessity of ice. Ice is tough to come by in some places @ some times
Jmac0585 - March 4, 2010, 9:12 am, #161668
P.S. I don't care about hockey, or any other winter Olympic sport, but I do want my country to win everything, all time. If you think that attitude is wrong, then maybe you should move to a country that engenders that feeling in you.
Jmac0585 - March 4, 2010, 9:10 am, #161667
When the Roughriders come down to Miami and beat the Saints, I'll admit failure. It's your game, everyone in your country plays it as soon as they can put on skates. You should win the gold. Don't pull a muscle reaching around to pat yourself on the back.

My keyboard has a stutter.
Bartimaeus - March 3, 2010, 11:47 pm, #161646
Yeah. Those hockey, Canada, those hockey games on me on the edge of my seat...and I'm not usually a fan.
Bartimaeus - March 3, 2010, 11:46 pm, #161644
I googled the reason. It's not played in enough countries. An olympic sport has to be played in at least 75 nations...and played by women in at least 40.
CANADA - March 3, 2010, 11:45 pm, #161643
lol Bart. Im just disturbing ****. they are both great sports
CANADA - March 3, 2010, 11:45 pm, #161642
IDK, I only watch the winter olympics
Bartimaeus - March 3, 2010, 11:44 pm, #161641
How's football inferior? It's by far the more masculine sport, requiring more in the way of brute force...and it involves more strategy than hockey.
TheTrashHeap - March 3, 2010, 11:43 pm, #161640
Is football (the one where you don't use your hands) in the Olympics?
CANADA - March 3, 2010, 11:42 pm, #161639
no, because football is an inferior sport.
TheTrashHeap - March 3, 2010, 11:42 pm, #161638
A wise old motifaker once said "curling loses something on the TV" but I don't remember which motifaker it was
Bartimaeus - March 3, 2010, 11:41 pm, #161637
Why isn't football (the one where you use your hainds) in the Olympics? Would it just be too confusing because of the similar names?
CANADA - March 3, 2010, 11:40 pm, #161636
closest to the center gets points. for every rock you have closer to the center than your opponents closest rock is a point
CANADA - March 3, 2010, 11:36 pm, #161634
ya, team martin kicked a**!
Bartimaeus - March 3, 2010, 11:35 pm, #161633
It is actually more interesting than I thought it would be. I sat and watched it for a while. I think I almost understand how they score it. lol The bald dude representing Canada seemed pretty beast.
DreMagnum - March 3, 2010, 11:33 pm, #161632
Curling is the **** though. One of the better sports IMO
Bartimaeus - March 3, 2010, 11:32 pm, #161631
sport. That's when I'll compete. It can't be far off. I mean Curling...mumble mumble.
Bartimaeus - March 3, 2010, 11:31 pm, #161630
Yeah, it was a great game...though I'm a little disappointed with the aftermath. But, hey, we held our own and hockey is Canada's national sport. Maybe if the contest was football...mumble mumble. Personally, I'm waiting for pool to become an Olympic
DreMagnum - March 3, 2010, 11:30 pm, #161629
No one expected them to finish second though, so I'm still proud of them, they have made hockey more popular in the states, and our national team is only going to get better.
CANADA - March 3, 2010, 11:19 pm, #161626
that was kinda mean of them. even meaner of me to laugh
CANADA - March 3, 2010, 11:18 pm, #161625
My favorite part was when they walked past them all with gold medals on a tray. lol
MrRandom - March 3, 2010, 11:16 pm, #161624
Agreed with TTH. But I can't be the only one who took a little guilty joy at how disappointed some of them looked. Great game though.
TheTrashHeap - March 3, 2010, 11:14 pm, #161623
Winning a Silver in the Olympic Games is better than anything any of us will probably ever do. Especially you. but ESPECIALLY me.
Airman - March 3, 2010, 6:26 pm, #161571
ask the Russians about silver.. or bronze. The USA team didn't disappoint anyone. It was a great hockey tournament and great fun

I started by playing classical, branched out to other styles, guitars and toys. Without skills, toys are useless. With skills, toys are awesome!! Silvy, I'm with you. A bass with a whammy bar? I could have a lot of fun with that! 5L yuk-yuk! Too true!!
Silverheart - April 6, 2015, 8:56 am, #260680
I'm one of those blasphemers that apply guitar techniques to a bass, and bass techniques to guitar... I could have some fun with a whammy-equipped bass.
EmilioDumphque - April 5, 2015, 3:49 pm, #260678
Sheesh, just pull the frets!
Oldsod - April 5, 2015, 1:39 pm, #260674
One of my favorite gimmicks was a Peavey bass with a whammy bar. I asked the salesman why anyone would put a whammy bar on a bass. He said, "So it will sound like a fretless bass." It went unsold.
EmilioDumphque - April 5, 2015, 12:55 pm, #260672
Beware the expensive malady of "tool geek". It doesn't just hit guitar players.
